Everyone was shocked when they found out that Mona was “A” in ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars Season 2 finale but the Little Liar who had to be the most hurt by Mona’s big revelation was Hanna. Wetpaint Entertainment spoke with star Ashley Benson about how Hanna will react to Mona being “A” in Season 3 and who she secretly wants to be working for Mona’s “A” team.
Wetpaint Entertianment: How are things changing now that “A” has been revealed?
Ashley Benson: A lot, because “A” is Mona and she was my best friend. So that’s difficult to deal with. Now Hanna is trying to figure out if it’s her fault, what she did to kind of make Mona turn against her. It’s tough. She’s just trying to figure out answers and what she can do to help now that her friend is in an insane asylum. She doesn’t know what to do, she feels lost. She has her other friends but Mona’s different, and she’s not the person she thought she was.Why does Hanna go to visit her in the asylum in the Season 3 premiere?
She just wants answers. It’s not even really to rebuild a friendship because it’s kind of done after everything that happened. But yeah, it’s just to find out answers and to see who is all in this because they are still getting tortured by someone else and how can it be [Mona]? She’s locked up. She’s just trying to figure out who she’s working with or what’s going on. I don’t even know if there will be a friendship between them again, we’ll see what goes down, but as for now she just wants answersWould you like any of the main four girls to be “A”?
I’ve always wanted that. I’ve always wanted my character to be “A.” I think it would be brilliant, the fans wouldn’t like it because it’s obviously not in the books, but I definitely think it would be a cool thing to twist on everyone in the last season. It would be really cool because they’ve been planning and working with all these people and it very well could be Hanna because Mona turns out to be “A” and she has all these people working for her. I don’t know if that will ever happen but if it did that would be really cool.Are there any flashbacks this season?
There’s a few flashbacks, we actually haven’t shot that many. This episode we do have a few flashbacks which will answer some question about Jason and his dad, and Alison’s whole before she disappeared kind of thing.Check back later today for more from Ashley Benson, including Lucas’s new role, Haleb’s future, and how the parents will interact with the Little Liars.

PLL Season 3 Promo: What Does It Tell Us?

ABC Family released the Pretty Little Liars Season 3 promo trailer last night.
According to showrunner Marlene King, the preview includes clips from the first two episodes of the season, Episode 1: “It Happened ‘That Night’” and Episode 2: “Blood Is the New Black.” Since we’re desperate for any scrap of information we can get about the new season, we’ve dissected the promo looking for clues about what’s going to happen in those episodes. Here’s what we can glean.
Spoby gets hot and heavy: Good news, Spoby shippers: There’s a clip of Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Toby (Keegan Allen) kissing passionately. Toby is shirtless. It looks like these two are getting very close now that “A” is out of the picture.
Ezria together: Aria (Lucy Hale) and Ezra (Ian Harding) are still together. We’re intrigued by a clip where he says to her, “You’re still safe, Aria.” That makes it sound like something dangerous goes down again (doesn’t it always?), and this time she opens up to him about what’s going on. Wouldn’t that be nice?
New texts: Speaking of things going down, Emily (Shay Mitchell) gets a text from an unknown number that says “I bet you remember me.” Another “A”? Later, we see all of the of the girls receive a text. Uh-oh…
Garrett’s warning: Garrett (Yani Gellman) is still behind bars for Alison’s (Sasha Pieterse) murder, but he tells Spencer, “There’s a lot you don’t know,” which we already suspected. Hopefully now that Garrett needs to save his own skin, he’ll start opening up about what was really going down with the N.A.T. club.
Unearthed grave: The creepy factor is still going strong: Someone has dug up a grave. Our guess is it’s either Alison’s or Maya’s (Bianca Lawson). Here’s the bigger question: Why is there a clip of Emily standing over the grave alone … with a shovel?
Keeping secrets: We see Spencer set what looks like it could be a shirt on fire. Emily is with her. Are the girls already covering up more secrets?
Aria in trouble: We see a hooded figure through a bathroom stall, and then see Aria in said stall, screaming for help. What happens?
Hanna vs. Mona: Most exciting of all, we see Hanna (Ashley Benson) confront her ex-BFF in the mental hospital. “You have made my life a nightmare!” she yells. Yes! We could not be more excited for this scene. Even creepier: We also see Mona Vanderwaal (Janel Parrish) say, “You’re getting them again, aren’t you?” We assume she means the “A” texts. Hmmm…
Haleb is still on: This couple still seems to be happy together based on a brief clip.
Jenna is still creepy: There’s just a short flash of Jenna (Tammin Sursok), but she’s as scary as ever.
