Hey guys! Just wanted to make sure you bought your SEASON ONE dvd yesterday! (and have enjoyed it!)
When Pretty Little Liars returns to ABC Family on June 14, fans are in for one intense second season. “The stuff that we’re shooting right now is insane,” exclaims Shay Mitchell (Emily). “I am so excited for the fans to see everything.”
At the start of the Season 2, the girls will be right where we left them in March. “You don’t miss a beat,” Mitchell told TV Guide Magazine at the MTV Movie Awards on June 5. “You’re going to find out what happened to Ian. That’s huge. I mean, that’s been the big question on everybody’s mind. Is he dead? Is he alive? You will be finding out.”
And while Mitchell cops to Emily having multiple new love interests, her co-star Troian Bellisario says her character, Spencer, only has eyes for one. “Her relationship with Toby is getting deeper,” says Bellisario. “And what you’ll see in the first seven episodes is her parents really taking Melissa’s side. Spencer’s got no support system, so she runs to Toby and they become more of a couple.”
She’ll need all the support she can get, because even though Alison’s body was found, “A” is still rampant. ” ‘A’ is torturing the girls,” says Bellisario, whose fans often accuse her of being the mysterious texter. “We don’t know if ‘A’ is the person that killed Alison or if they’re two separate people,” adds Mitchell. ” ‘A’ seems to be everywhere.”
What we do know is that Sasha Pieterse, who plays Alison, will be back for more flashbacks, and possibly more revelations about her character’s death. “There will be a lot more Sasha and some really great scenes,” teases Mitchell. ”A lot more flashbacks that could be key to the events that took place the night she was murdered.”

It’s not particularly conventional, but Sasha Pieterse has made quite a name for herself playing a character that’s well, dead. In Pretty Little Liars, Pieterse stars as Alison DiLaurentis, Aria, Hanna, Emily and Spencer’s (Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario) best friend who mysteriously disappears in the midst of a sleepover never to return again.
In an effort to not spoil anything from season one for those of you still catching up, I’ll leave it at that, but, when season two kicks off on Tuesday, June 14th, you better be ready because there’s a ton of new information to explore and Pieterse is thrilled about it. During a recent interview, Pieterse dished on all of the new possibilities for her character this time around, particularly when it comes to delving into her family life. Could we finally get a look at Alison’s softer side?
We’ll have to wait until the 14th to find out, but, in the meantime, check out everything Pieterse had to say when reminiscing about the show’s early days and how her life and career have changed since. She also touches on the preparation necessary to work with Alison’s calculating behavior as well as how she needs to consider how Alison’s actions effect the rest of the girls before diving into a scene. Looking for more? Be sure to check out Pieterse on the big screen this weekend in X-Men: First Class in which she puts poor Banshee (Caleb Landry Jones) in his place.
First off, how has your life changed since season one of Pretty Little Liars? When you first started, did you ever imagine it being this successful?
Sasha Pieterse: You know what? You’re right; I did not! [Laughs] My life has changed quite a bit actually, all for the good though. It’s weird because every time I go out in LA I usually get recognized at least once every time I go out which is crazy, but such a compliment. It’s been such a great experience and it’s definitely been life changing and I never ever imagined that the show would be as successful as it is and that’s just amazing. We had hopeful expectations, but to see the fans react has been quite unbelievable and I still think – I mean, I’m speaking on behalf of actually our whole cast because we still feel this way – it’s like it hasn’t really even registered yet how big the show has gotten, so it’s very exciting for us still. Were you always up for the role of Alison to start?
No, actually. I went out for Hanna originally and tested for Hanna actually and then they did this huge switcheroo. In fact, Bianca [Lawson], she plays Maya, she was up for Hanna as well. Ashley [Benson], me and Bianca all tested for Hanna at first and then they readjusted the roles and everything. I think it’s kind of cool that we all ended up working together. We all got along so well, even then. So, yeah, it was really cool and I couldn’t imagine playing anyone else other than Alison now either. And now how about in terms of your career? Is there anything specific the role of Alison has taught you over the past year?
Well, you know, what’s cool about my character on this, Alison, she’s got so many layers to her and it’s a role that I can really dig my death into. She’s got a lot of depth to her, which is my favorite kind of role to play. It’s interesting because I just did a movie, it’s a Disney TV movie called Geek Charming, and it was completely different. I was this sweet rocker chick. [Laughs] Actually, I’ve always kind of done that. I was a cancer patient, I was bald and then I was a Goth in one movie, so I’ve kind of always been all over the spectrum, which has been really entertaining for me because I get to become all these different characters. But since Pretty Little Liars, yeah, it’s been interesting. I’ve definitely seen a boom in my auditions and everyone kind of knows the show, which is so cool to be on a show like that where we’re doing well and people recognize us.
